Holy Saturday
Scripture: Mathew 27:55-56
Many women were also there, looking on from a distance; they had followed Jesus from Galilee and had provided for him. Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
Prayer: Waiting for Easter
Waiting God,
We love quick and immediate,
we dash to doors and our carts are instant
we are familiar with fast and good at just being fine.
But on this day we wait.
We wait, nothing to do but wait.
We wait, nothing to do but stay in the present.
opening our hearts to longing and hurt,
brokenness, grief and pain.
Nothing to do
but the real work.
Grant us the courage to show up,
riveted to the healing we must do,
the growing pains we must tend,
and the distractions we must set aside.
And so we, your waiting ones remember we are not alone
and with hopeful hearts we say, “Amen."
Journal: What’s a waiting room like? When have you waited? How do you see waiting?
Action: Light a candle and pray the names of the crucified spaces and people longing for new life.
